Manufacturing Capabilities
Vertically Integrated Interlining Manufacturing
Comfort Linings controls every stage that determines how an interlining performs — from weaving and processing the base fabric, through coating and powder granulation, to finishing the cut components that reach a garment factory. That vertical integration, built up over three decades in Ahmedabad and Vadodara, is why our customers get consistent thickness, consistent bond strength and consistent supply.
Every capability listed below is operated in-house. Nothing critical to quality is outsourced.
Coating Processes
Scatter coating
Introduced to our interlinings in 1995, scatter coating distributes polyethylene powder evenly across the base fabric to produce a strong, uniform bond. It suits heavier constructions and applications where bond strength matters more than drape.
Microdot coating
Added in 2002 alongside our own base-fabric facility, microdot coating lays down a precise, repeatable dot pattern. It gives a softer hand feel and a cleaner face on lightweight and shirting fabrics, with no strike-through.
Both processes run on automated cutting and bonding machinery and use heat-resistant bonding techniques developed alongside advanced non-woven technologies.
In-house Powder Granulation
Since 2016 we granulate our own HDPE and LLDPE powders. Producing the adhesive ourselves means we control particle size and melting behaviour rather than accepting whatever the market supplies:
- HDPE powder — melting point 125–135°C, high tensile strength, for structured garments
- LDPE powder — melting point 105–115°C, high flexibility and soft bonding, for lightweight fabrics
- LLDPE powder — melting point 110–125°C, balanced flexibility and strength, for medium to heavy interlinings
The same powders are supplied to customers in other industries who need clean, residue-free polyethylene.
Base Fabric, Dyeing and Finishing
Our Ahmedabad facility processes the base fabric for our own interlinings, which lets us hold GSM and hand feel within tight limits: HDPE constructions from 65–200 GSM and LDPE constructions from 65–250 GSM, in soft, medium and stiff hand feels.
In 2024 we added dyed fabric and pocketing fabric processing, using fade-resistant dyes and low-impact, eco-friendly dyeing techniques, with wrinkle-resistant finishing available.
Component Manufacturing
We convert finished interlining into ready-to-use garment components, cut to the sizes a garment factory actually needs:
- Collars in sizes 14–18, shapes 2.5″, 2.75″ and 3.25″, in Babla and Cutway styles
- Cuffs in sizes 9–10.5, shapes 2″, 2.25″ and 2.5″, in D-cut and Square styles
- Plackets in widths 20–38 mm, rolls of 20–50 metres
- Cuff rolls in widths 39–125 mm, rolls of 20–50 metres
- Waistband interlining in widths 31–38 mm, rolls of 20–50 metres
Collar-cuff belts have been manufactured from our own interlining fabric since 2024, closing the loop from base fabric to finished component.
Quality Assurance
Multiple checkpoints run through the process so every product meets stringent standards before it ships. Consistent thickness, reliable adhesion after repeated wash cycles and dimensional stability are checked rather than assumed — which is what allows us to supply export-focused manufacturers working to international buyer specifications.
Sustainability
We use sustainable fibres and adhesives that reduce environmental impact, and advanced production techniques that minimise material wastage and energy consumption. Responsible sourcing and energy-efficient processes are part of how the plant is run, not a separate programme.
Service and Supply
Geographical managers cover each region so that product availability stays predictable, and our comprehensive range means a single supplier can cover an entire interlining requirement rather than a fraction of it.
